Part 2 - pfSense OpenVPN Server on VMWare ESXi for Layer 2 Bridge Client from Site A to Site B

Step 4 - Configure pfSense Site A OpenVPN server from Web GUI Interface
a. Connect to http://192.168.2.253 and login using default username admin and password pfsense

b. You will then be prompted to follow a Wizard. Skip this, by entering http://192.168.2.253 into the address bar again. You will then be shown the main pfSense status: Dashboard

c. Ensure you have internet connectivity. Click Interfaces > WAN. Scroll down to Static IP configuration and set a gateway by clicking ' add a new one'

d. Set the internet gateway of Site A, in this case 192.168.2.254. Click Save Gateway.


e. As this pfSense appliance is on a private (trusted network) Untick 'Block bogon networks'. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save

f. At the top of the screen, click 'Apply Changes'


g. Click System > General Setup and add DNS servers. Whilst in there set the correct Timezone which will be helpful later when viewing logs. Scroll down the bottom of the page and click Save. you will then see a dialog at the top confiming changes have been applied.


h. Click System > Packages
Click the available Packages tab. If you do not see anything in the list - your internet connection is down or incorrectly configured. Make sure you have gateway set correctly and DNS. The gateway should be the physical firewall/router LAN IP, the device thats WAN port connects to your ISP.
Scroll down to and click next to "OpenVPN tap Bridging Fix"
